Commissioner, Business Operations

Director of League Management - REMOTE

The Eastern Hockey Federation is seeking a candidate for the Director of League Management position. This role will assist the Commissioner and Sr. Director of League Development in the day-to-day operations, administration and all public relations, communications and media efforts for the league. 

The successful candidate must be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. The candidate must have strong knowledge of social media platforms as well as outstanding writing and public relations skills and the ability to produce various communication materials written, social media, multimedia, etc.) and maintain frequent communication with Hockey Directors, Schedulers, Owners, Coaches and Families. 

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Support all day to day activities for the league, including, financial reporting, administration of hockey operations, coordination with team contacts, supporting league initiatives 

  • Coordinate with 3rd party technology providers to the league 

  • Responsible for all communications-related activities, including but not limited to general stories, game stories, press releases, statistics, box scores, game notes 

  • Ensure timely and accurate content updates (game stories, statistics, player/coach/staff biographies, video, etc.) for all Teams and divisions with a National profile. (Elite, EHF Selects) 

  • Responsible for the coordination of League Events (Playoffs, Parity Tournaments) 

Strong candidates requires the following: 

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Communications, Sports Marketing or other related disciplines 

  • 2-3 years experience in the field of Social Media, Marketing, Sports Management or Sports Information 

  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Website content management systems, knowledge of various social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), and familiarity with both MAC and PC platforms. 

The successful candidate must possess and demonstrate the following: 

  • Strong communicator, with excellent writing and editing skills 

  • General knowledge of the Youth and Midget Hockey landscape in the Northeast. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication & computer skills, necessary. 

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects at once, while meeting established deadlines. 

  • Strong work ethic, passion for the profession and commitment to their co-workers and league partners 

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 

  • Strategic, innovative and creative thinker, and ability to work independently. 

Eastern Hockey Federation 

The Eastern Hockey Federation, affectionately known as simply “THE FED”, has been the preeminent Youth Hockey League in the North East since its inception in 2004, having teams and associations consistently ranked in the Top 5 Nationally. Originally established by the Bay State Breakers, Boston Jr Eagles, Boston Jr. Terriers, Bridgewater Bandits, Middlesex Islanders, Minuteman Flames, Providence Capitals, South Shore Kings, and Top Gun, the league has grown to include 21 associations with 7000 players involved annually. Many of the top NHL and College Hockey players got their start with the “FED”.
